Ground reinforcement work | SMD method to reach a deep support layer of up to 34.8 meters.
The minister-certified SMD method achieves reliable tip anchoring to deep support layers with a maximum deep excavation performance of 34.8 meters, reaching 130 times the shaft diameter.
In ground reinforcement work, areas with extremely weak ground, such as coastal regions and alluvial plains where there is no good supporting layer at shallow depths, require advanced construction performance capable of penetrating to deep supporting ground. The SMD pile method provided by Geotech Co., Ltd. is a small-diameter rotary driven steel pipe pile method certified by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, featuring an outstanding deep penetration capability that reaches 130 times the shaft diameter (maximum construction depth of 34.8 m). By placing unique cutting wings inside and outside the high-quality steel pipe tip with a shaft diameter of φ89.1 mm to φ267.4 mm, it penetrates through thick soft layers with high straightness without deviation. Upon reaching the target supporting layer (with a sand equivalent N value of 60 or less and a clay equivalent N value of 27 or less), it exhibits tremendous end bearing capacity due to the pipe's internal clogging effect. During on-site construction, a dedicated construction management device is used to continuously monitor and automatically record penetration torque and cutting depth, objectively demonstrating deep foundation placement with data. With reliable technical specifications and a strict management system, it supports the safety of structures under severe geological conditions.
